Could the "Egyptian University" regain its position as a tool of soft power and source of foreign currency? Yes, only if there is a political will and support to a leadership that will revive the exchange programs. It is sad to say that, for the past 10 years, no concrete efforts have been taken to this end. In 2007, a Cambridge graduate student communicated with Alexandria University Faculty of Law expressing interest to enroll in summer course to study Islamic law. Unfortunately, the enrollment system and the available programs were ill-suited to meet his interest.
في عام 2007، ارسل طالب دراسات عليا بريطاني بجامعة كامبردج إلي كلية الحقوق جامعة الإسكندرية، يبدي رغبته في القدوم إلي مصر لدراسة الشريعة الإسلامية. ورسالته كانت استفسار عن مدى استعداد الجامعة والكلية لإستقباله، وعن التفاصيل الإدارية والمالية لتحقيق ذلك. للأسف، لم نكن جاهزين لإستقباله حينها، ومازلنا غير جاهزين لإستقباله الآن بعد مرور ما يقرب من عشر سنوات
